My llittle Faith is all grown up!

Today is Faith's 18th birthday! Here are some of the things I love about her. Faith has always been steadfast, I think of her in earthy colors and used to buy a lot of her clothes in those colors. When she was 10 she said to me, "Mom, I like all those colors you buy me but I really like pink, could you buy me something pink?" She still buys pink! I love that she is easy going, naturally kind and loving. She has taught me many things.

I love that she loves the sun and light in general, she went through a dark time but she found her way back to the light.

She can be silly.

She can be fun.

She is happy.

She smilies alot.

She hangs out in the kitchen with me.

She has alot of hair!

Sometimes she has attitude!

She is grounded. She seems to know where she has been and where she is going. She loves the earth, the people, the rain, the rainbows, the sun, the moon, all of nature but mostly the creatures. I think in the pre-existence she must of been a creature caretaker, they seem to know her and she seems to know them.

She likes old trucks and other old things (Ask her about the Donner Reid museum)!

She is pretty on the inside and the outside.

She can get up and go when she needs to! She is on her way to good things and I can not wait to cheer her on in her new adventures. I love her.

We head to Las Vegas via Ely , Eureka, Carvers, Round Mountain, Tonapah, Beatty with a quick stop in Rhyolite, we will be back to the Armagosa Valley to ride the Big Dune, and Indian Springs! It was nice to drive through the middle of nowhere and take in the wide open spaces. It was also sad to see much of it no longer open. We stayed our first night in Henderson Nevada at the Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino and the next two nights in the home of Tanya Sall's parents, Ron & Debbie Nelson. They are exceptional host and we enjoyed our visit with them very much. We also had dinner with my friend Teresa DelRial and her family, it is always great to visit them. We made a stop at the M&M store, the Hershery Store and visited the Aquarium at All and all we had a great time.

Carter turned 16, that in itself seems crazy! The thing I love most about Carter is that he is simply himself with his own style, his own thoughts and his own talents. He only tries to be Carter and he does it exceptionally well!

Our late chickens

Lucy the Red Star, died of natural cause of old age. We will miss her. She had the best personality!

Roni the Rhode Island Red-She was eaten, she would not stop eating eggs, we tried many things to stop her but in the end she was eating 3 eggs a day so we ate her.

Sophie the Red Star- She was egg bound, we tried to save her in vain.

Phil the Faverolle-Her death is still a mystery.

Blackbird the Black Australorp-She was injured and then several other chicken pecked out her flesh around the injury. We separated her and she eventually healed but did not walk very good. She spent most of her time just sitting in the lay box. She was put out of her misery.

Pickles the Barred Rock-She seemed to have some kind of a stroke, she stood for many hours in the same place and stared off into space. She would not eat and only drank for my husband. After a week she was kindly put out of her misery.

Willow, the Leghorn, is no more, she got in the dog pen and was played with to death.

Chicken who stopped by

Mabel the Mottled Java- She came to us from a neighbor, she would allow their other chicken in the coop. She was at the bottom of our pecking order until the new chickens arrived. She would hop the 3 foot fence and not allow the new chickens to eat their own food. She moved to the Jenie Hansen coop in West Haven! She does well there.

Ruby and Rhoda the Rhode Island Reds- Bought from a neighbor. They pecked the flesh out of Blackbird and were aggressive with several of the other hens. They found a new home with a daughter's friend. They do better there at the bottom of the pecking order.
